Presentation and Function working together

Click to Expand - Character Creation

The Interface of Luna Obscura is unique but still keeps the familiarity and responsiveness of the classic RO experience.

Luna Obscura was built on top of the 2024 Zero Client , a unique branch of the game where changes were made to modernize and update the game. Then changes were made further to fit what you see today: Unprecedent thematic, immersive and responsive UI elements.

So far, over 900 game files were changed only on the Interface in order to provide the visual update needed for Luna's theme, and at least 250 hex edits were done to the client, both for stability, capacity and features.

Below you can see the main updates and features that can be found on the menu, and its proper visual identity.

Every UI element done in Luna Obscura is done in-client, with native compatibility and performance, avoiding the possible sync issues and delays with overlays or external DLLs. But it stills done inside RO's client, which also brings the usual "RO Jank" and cannot be fixed completely.

Game Settings Recommendations

Click to Expand - Character Selection
  • Game client has support for Directx 9. It has been slimmed down considerably and size reduced by around 2.5GB
  • Running the game at 1920x1080 resolution is recommended. Resolutions below 1280x720 may have severe issues with clipping or positioning of elements, with resolutions higher than the recommended can cause unexpected issues. If you are fine with some weird pink box on side when talking to npcs while running at 4k for example, go ahead.
  • Recommended to run the game's setup files before login to generate required settings.
  • Font sizes are restricted in RO and cannot be larger. There is no support for larger text, you can use any software for that if you need one. We had huge changes and the font -is- larger than default... but not by much.
  • Gepard and other anti-cheats are not implemented. However, there is a 0 tolerance policy on cheating.
  • Use of Macros, 4rTools and GRF editing are allowed as long as they don't automate the gameplay beyond your IRL health keeping (holding clicks down for example for tendinitis), but it is frowned upon and support won't be provided.
