The Content of Luna Obscura includes the entirety of Orchestria, all its cities, roads, dungeons, locations and details.

The main safe areas are the Cathedral of Blades and Nocturne, which players are expected to not only use as their main point of operations, but keep safe and help evolve and improve.

- Fields: Easier locations, award more Base EXP than average, they have basic straightforward mechanics and have limited quest and boss availability.

- Grand Dungeons: Medium locations, balanced Base and Job EXP, have larger focused quests, events, thematic mechanics and systems.

- Dungeons: Harder locations, higher Job EXP, have challenging quests, unique monster mechanics and demand constant attention.

They are part of the challenging content of Luna Obscura, more details can be found in the Obscura Dungeons page

2. Recent History of Orchestria

The game takes place in the Region of Orchestria. A Decentralized Monarchy where the King rules over the land with the support of the Ministry, a group of 6 chosen by the nobles and wealthy.

While the king has authority, but his actions are taken with approval of the majority of the Ministry, ensuring proper balance of power.

The key aspect of Orchestria is its rich focus on culture and arts, which made it a central figure and would receive thousands of visitors over the years.

Orchestria is sub divided in 3 regions:

Rhapsody District - North, the castle, the fortifications and the open sea are located around it. Fortress city of Intermezzo is located close to it, with its imposing walls and towers.

Sonata District - West, Largest city in the region, with large railways connected to other countries and to the central location of culture and riches.

Crescendo District - East, the city responsible for the growth and evolution of Orchestria, carrying its core values to always evolve while respecting history.

The Luna Obscura

The Luna Obscura is a strange, small moon-like entity that floats over the north of Orchestria above a small island, it has been there for the past 250 years and old books lack details on how it got there, with some claiming it appeared out of thin air, some saying it came out of the ocean or others that it came from space.

While the group 'Message of Stars' would worship and gather more people over time around it, treating it like a deity, it had no known negative effects and even improved Orchestria's tourism, as everyone was fascinated by its strange properties.

There were some reports once in a while of people hearing voices coming from it, but those were the exception and most times dismissed as being made-up to get attention.

It's made by what can be described as "Organic Marble-like", with a strange finish, Its around 200 meters in diameter and with small dots of light. It also slightly distorts the view around it, showing things that are not exactly there.

Anything that tries to come in contact with it, either thrown or in some other way causes no visible damage and is only repelled back. before coming in contact with it.

Other reports also mention the organic vein-like textures on its outer layer, and in some rare cases, mention of it pulsing as if pumping some substance through it.

Oswald and the Cathedral of Blades

Oswald Greyveil was a head researcher in The Red Crypt, a facility that would handle the study and healing of people through blood transfusion and manipulation. He had a strong obsession with the Luna Obscura, researching all aspects in regards to it. Including deeply studying the reports of everyone without ever judging them.

Noticing the amount of reports increasing over time and studies showing an large increase blood pressure on the person who claimed to hear the voices, as well as increasingly aggressive reports on their behavior, Oswald and the researchers started worrying and focusing all their time in researching the phenomenom.

While analyzing and testing the people who would report the voices they hear, the blood tests were improved and refined and there were 2 types of blood found. Those with a specific Protein around the cells, and one without, those proteins were named "Mother Protein" as they could be passed down from mother to child during pregnancy, while those without it would be named as having the Deaf Blood.

While the amount of people with the Deaf Blood was not high, it was enough to provide considerable data for the team, specially since Oswald himself had it.

The Deaf Blood

Every report of listening the voice would come from people with regular blood. The increase in blood pressure was analyzed and proven to come from how hearing the voices would vibrate the proteins in specific patterns, creating a build-up of energy and intensity.

Oswald tried to bring his research to the Ministry for analysis and a way to properly track what was happening... but ironically, it was seen as stupid witchcraft from a crazy old man.

Roughly 11% of the people would carry the Deaf Blood, with other subtypes that were not properly understood, they could never hear the voices and Oswald knew this was important.

Oswald was part of the influential Greyveil family, with strong ties with the Nocturne people. Using his influence he acquired the Cathedral of Blades, and old building to the east where knights and warriors would seek blessings of the Sun and Moon before going to war, ready to die for their king, a practice lost to ancient times. There he revitalized that same culture, and worked hard for years to restore the Cathedral and further research the situation. It was but a small group of people, but the amount of reports was growing every day and the Ministry and the King proved useless.

Then... 10 years after the discovery of the blood effects... with reports of voices increasing non-stop... the Luna Obscura howled.

The Madness

The strange voices heard were usually described as faint singing, with some rare reports of strange voices that felt more like feelings of sadness or anger. But one night that changed.

Every single person without Deaf Blood heard a terrible screech, a terrible sound that drove them insane with pain of their blood boiling and huge pressure. This was called The Madness.

The Madness drove the people completely insane. They no longer had restrictions of their feelings, intents, ideas or any social notion, they were driven by their primal instincts.

Men looking for wealth would kill anyone and steal their belongings... Women who felt jealousy out of the beauty or influence of others would scratch their skins off... Old people who felt lonely would wish everyone to feel the same... Kids who had sweet dreams were filled with nightmares... Guards who had hidden wishes of power abuse would make them not so hidden anymore...

And society crumbled almost instantly. With 89% of the population going insane, either forming terror groups or transforming themselves. This affected the whole region of Orchestria.

This effect also affected most of the animal life in unexpected ways, creating strange mutated versions or simply causing incredible rage on them due to the voice persistence.

The rest of the world isolated Orchestria completely, all attempts at early support were met with people losing their mind and becoming part of the Madness.

Except for the city of Nocturne, where most people had Deaf Blood, which had minor casualties, and the Cathedral of Blades, which had been preparing for it.

The Astral and Umbral alliance

Oswald and its group revived the Astral and Umbral alliance. Two branches based on the old knights who would visit the Cathedral of Blades, now using it as their headquarters.

Astral Knights were once part of the main force of the King, they would fight wars head on and wage war on the fields during the day.

Umbral Knights were once part of the secret force, they would strike during the night, taking the enemy by surprise and prioritizing risky, but impactful operations.

Now restored as the Astral Hunters and Umbral Hunters, they would bring the old ideas to a modern age, where they would adapt to fight the new situation in Orchestria, while trying to understand the mystery of Luna Obscura.

But the clock is ticking as those with Deaf Blood sometimes can hear a faint voice singing...

... and the Maidens are always guiding the madness to new places...

... and a new generation of Hunters need to take matters into hands.

Current Events

-The government has completely crumbled. The few sane people outside Nocturne is either barely surviving or just scared.

-The Madness happened 10 years ago.

-Oswald is missing for 4 years now, having left one night for research and not coming back. His son, Adrian, having been left in his place, killed by a traitor.

-With the sudden lack of a leader, Kaine took lead as the head of the Cathedral of Blades, while appointing Miriam and Silas Greyveil as leaders of the Astral and Umbral Hunters.

-While the Cathedral's main focus is keeping Nocturne and the people safe, They also are key in exploring what is left of Orchestria, both to find a cure and to reach the Luna Obscura and try to put an end to the voices.

-The Maidens wander the land... whenever they come close, the voice can be heard inside people's minds.

-The Player is just a Deaf Blood citizen of Nocturne who decides to take matters into hands after a close encounter with a Maiden. (Tutorial of the game)

Cross-Data with Real Life

The "Mother Protein" and other details are based on the Rh Factor, discovered in 1940 by Karl Landsteiner.

It's a protein that surrounds red blood cells, and provides specific situations of immunity, reactions and other known blood characteristics, including the split between + and - blood on A, B, AB and O types.

It shall be presumed that the Luna Obscura affected everyone with a + blood, and the people not affected are of - blood types.

While artistic freedom was taken, and Orchestria is a world of magic, it's important to find a strong basis to work on.

Details can be discovered ingame.
